Harper Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a Fish Fry at the KC Hall in Harper, Friday, February 27th from 5 to 7:30 pm...  Serving whole catfish, Tilapia, scalloped & baked potatoes, cole slaw, green beans, roll & drink... The public is invited to attend.

The Mahaska County 4-H is working with the Oskaloosa Chamber to develop a Festival of Trees in conjunction with the Lighted Christmas Parade festivities. The Festival will be held on Friday, December 4 from 4-9 pm at Penn Central Mall. In order to continue planning for this event, Mahaska County 4-H and the Chamber ask for you feedback. Sunday evening, March 1, the Union Liberty Church at 1143 325th Street rural Bussey will host their monthly Praise Service featuring the Gospel Singers Male Chorus from the Oskaloosa and Pella areas at 6 pm. A free will offering will be taken

The Ottumwa Public Library welcomes Celtic finger-style guitarist Jerry Barlow for a special concert Thursday, March 5th at 5:30 PM at the Library, 102 W. Fourth in Ottumwa. The program is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 641-682-7563.

The Teens of the Good News Chapel, of Oskaloosa, are sponsoring a Soup Supper, on Friday March 6. Serving from 4:30 - 6:30 P.M. Free will offering. Serving various soups, hot-dogs, sloppy Joes, pies and drinks.

Seed Starting Lunch & Learn will be held Friday, March 6th at noon at the Mahaska County Extension Office, 212 North I Street, Oskaloosa. Mahaska County Extension and Master Gardener Linda Spears will offer an opportunity to learn about starting your own seeds. Bring your lunch and learn from Linda. The Oskaloosa Community of Christ will host the Peacemobile at Penn Central Mall from 10 am- 4 pm. The event is free to all and offers activities to children aged 5-11 that are designed to teach to concepts of peace through creative, fun, child-centered learning activities. 

March 7 
The Mahaska County Conservation Board will host its Maple Syrup Festival from 1-4 pm at Eveland Access. Throughout the afternoon, staff will demonstrate how to tap trees and boil it to make maple syrup. Park at the Eveland Access Campground and catch a hayrack ride up to the sugar shack. Bring you appetites for fresh maple syrup on ice cream! This event is for all ages.

The internationally acclaimed Jazz Ambassadors of Washington, DC will continue its long tradition of presenting free public performances when it appears at Bridge View Center at 7:30 pm. The Jazz Ambassadors' concert in Ottumwa is sponsored by Ottumwa Hy-Vee Food and Drug Stores, South Ottumwa Savings Bank, and the Ottumwa Courier. Free tickets are available at all Ottumwa Hy-Vee Food and Drug locations and South Ottumwa Savings Bank, and at the Bridge View Center.

The 11th Annual Diversity Conference will be held on the IHCC Ottumwa campus on Friday, March 20, from 8:45 am - 4 pm. Opening keynote will feature Michael Kutcher, the surprise twin brother of celebrity Ashton Kutcher. Closing keynote will be Kevin Brown, a young man who has faced unimaginable challenges in life growing up on Detroit's eastside. Registration fee is $35 for online pre-registration through March 17th, and is $40 after March 17th. Student registration fee is $10. Lunch is included. Pre-registration is encouraged. You're invited to the Dare Ya' Expo at Penn Central Mall March 29th from noon to 4 pm. The event will include a variety of interactive stations to re-introduce clubs, events, activities that happen in your own back yard. You can walk the recreation trail on a mock trail, have your picture taken in a photo booth, throw a disc golf disc, win a tree to take home and much more!

First Thursday Evening of Each Month:
The Safe Place Suicide Support Group will meet on the first Thursday evening of each month at the Celebrate Church, 1005 N Lincoln in Knoxville. Meetings run from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Pella Regional Health Center will hold an Adult Grief Support Group with Coffee, Conversation and Comfort on the 2nd Tuesday of month, from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the Lower Level of Comfort House... No reservation is necessary and this event is free and open to the public.
